Vintage 1940s Oak Dressing Chest of Drawers with Mirror

We think this vintage dressing chest will win hearts. It’s certainly won ours. With four drawers and a mounted mirror, it serves as a practical chest of drawers and vanity stand for the bedroom, but with dimensions that are tall and slender, rather than wide, its footprint is small and undemanding. Made in English oak, the material, construction and design lead us to conclude it dates from the 1940s. It has an unfussy, wartime / post-war, utility look, a period we’re particularly fond of. It may lack fancy design flourishes but utility furniture was so well made, built to last a lifetime and beyond. And the fact the style is neutral and no-nonsense, means it can mix easily in with other furniture. Check out the Deco-influenced detail on the mirror’s top edge.
